61 of #100daychallenge: close-up
I dropped my phone and it broke. Having to get a new phone is like having to get a new car. It’s kind of exciting and dreadful at the same time.
It’s nice having a phone to keep a close distance from everything and everyone. I notice how I am different after using my phone a lot. My daughter is the same. We become distant. We start to notice in each other the varying definitions and degrees of closeness.
I started thinking about how I love everything from a distance and my vantage point from a distance is where I like to stay perched because it allows me to appreciate everything. When it comes to zooming in for close-ups, things either get confusing and uncomfortable or aligned and comfortable, because I must let myself be seen. I am no longer anonymous or out of sight. Accountability for myself and my thoughts.
Close-ups are actually the best. Close-ups require vulnerability and when I have the chance to work through vulnerable stuff when I have an audience or a partner to work through it with, it feels like immediate gratification and victory. Close-ups are great opportunities to see who we and where we really are in our ability to be ourselves. They also require us to treat ourselves as worthy, interesting, likable and lovable.
