53 of #100daychallenge: cleaning

This time of year I like to purge. It has been several weeks since I’ve had it in my mind to do the deep clean, but I’ve been avoiding to my own detriment. Sometimes I think my mind gets too controlling and the rest of me rebels. It’s driving me mad, because I feel cluttered and agitated more and more as the days go by. Today, I did get one room done and it felt great. Now I must keep the momentum going.

I just pre-ordered Gretchen Rubin’s new book coming out in March called “Outer Order Inner Calm.” This idea resonates with me so much right now. I’m also thinking about the time I used Marie Kondo’s Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up “KonMari” method and how wonderful it was to have space and a specific place for each thing. I felt better then. More comfortable and calm.

I think the trick is letting the cleaning and organization happen on its own time at its own pace. The more I put pressure on myself, the more resistance and frustration I feel and it’s awful. Taking care of my space and belongings is meant to be an enjoyable experience. Taking time to take stock and have gratitude for each thing and what purpose(s) it has served for me.

Time for bed…late again, but I will hit the 10:30pm bedtime goal at least twice this week.

Just the right amount for me.
